Leadership Structure of the Campaign to End Homelessness

Updates

October 2011

The Campaign’s workgroups have set their 2012 goals, which include strengthening the Campaign community, developing new materials and trainings for continuous quality improvement (CQI) and leadership, and making use of data. Read on for more information on the individual workgroup’s activities.

Community Building and Communications Workgroup
Chair: Bill Reid (BReid@NBHS.org)
Co-Chair: Eric Hufnagel (ehufnagel@mihomeless.org)

At its October meeting, the Community Building and Communications (CBC) workgroup decided to focus on 2012 as a community-building year, augmenting the groups and organizations that are allied with the Campaign. CBC is also working to improve the personal face of the Campaign, more frequently showing individual successes and personal experiences.  In addition, the workgroup recently developed and distributed a press release explaining the creation of the Housing Assessment and Resource Agency (HARA) system.

Housing Assistance and Models Workgroup
Chair: Christine Miller (millerc10@michigan.gov)
Co-Chair: Stacey Vandenberg (svandenberg@wmttlc.com)

The Housing Assistance and Models (HA&M) workgroup has been focused on taking stock of their trajectory recently, and it is crafting a new action plan for 2012. The group’s core efforts will be directed to:

  • Identifying and sharing solutions to known barriers to accessing available units
  • Improving access, clarity, and utility of housing information
  • Building relationships with public housing authorities (other than MSHDA)

  • HA&M Action Plan (updated 10/18/11)

Employment, Income Supports, and Supportive Services Workgroup
Chair: Scott Dzurka (sdzurka@uwmich.org)

The Employment, Income Supports, and Supportive Services workgroup (EISSS) has decided to conclude its current work and to move forward as a special project workgroup that will attend to critical issues and topics as they arise.

The first issue that the workgroup will address will be to assist CSIG in the development of a response strategy to the legislative reforms to welfare that are expected to take effect in October. The group will meet regularly over the next several months to identify approaches that other states have taken to adjusting to welfare reform, giving service providers and clients timely and useful information about how changes will affect them and presenting possible approaches to lessening the impact on available resources.

Planning, Implementation, Measurement, and Information Technology Workgroup
Chair: Barb Ritter (britter@mihomeless.org)
Co-Chair: Gerry Leslie (
gleslie@flint.org)

The Planning, Implementation, and Measurement/Information Technology (PIMIT) workgroup has continued to fine-tune its action plan for 2012. To enhance assistance to agencies, the group also is working to gather feedback from local agencies implementing a CQI process.  It has preliminarily identified specific populations for benchmarking outcomes.
